Tenant RightsLandlords lease their property to the tenant for a specific time in return of money. The landlord makes the money from the rent and the tenant gets a house to live in. there are some right and duties for both of them. These rights are mentioned in the lease agreement that is commonly known as the landlord and tenant lease.

The first and the foremost thing that has to be done even before getting in to the new house is to sign a written document between the landlord and the tenant. It acts a protection for both of them in case of dispute between the landlord and the tenant. The lease is for a fixed period of time. It includes all the details about the security deposit, number of residing individuals, due date of rent, late fee, property repair responsibility etc.

In case of any alternation in the rights of either the tenant or the landlord the lease is edited to include the change. After signing the lease it becomes the responsibility of both to follow what is written their in the lease. The tenant should keep all the documents like the lease papers and the receipt of the rent and security deposit.
